An Introduction to Electron Energy-Loss Spectroscopy
R.F. Egerton
University of Alberta, Canada
We will discuss some of the basic instrumentation, methods and physics involved in EELS, with a few examples of recent applications - including the use of a monochromatic STEM to obtain vibrational-mode spectra with modest (~ 50nm) spatial resolution but with the possibility of avoiding radiation damage by use of an aloof-beam mode.
