The main reason of the resonance existing in the metal nanoparticles is the localizing (confinement) of electrons in the small volumes of these particles; under the influence of the plane electromagnetic wave inside the particle with the size less than wavelength electrons move in phase; polarization appear – on the surface of the particle the charge appears, which leads to an effective restoring force appearance, resulting in dipole plasmonic frequency appearance.
As a result, inside and around the particle the electromagnetic field increases dramatically. There is an effect of such giant field – the main principal can be applied in localized plasmonic resonance. The resonance frequency strongly depended on the materials, shape and dimension of metal particle. These fields can provide a better probability of radiative transition for lanthanide ions as well as for ZnO exciton recombination, which can increase the luminescence or laser radiation.
