Theoretical predictions on structures and properties of topological defects, interfaces and point defects in two-dimensional materials

Two-dimensional (2D) materials have attracted lots of attention recently, due to great potential in many applications. However, large-scale samples grown by chemical vapor deposition method contain various defects, which have profound influences on material properties. In this presentation, I will discuss theoretical predictions on the structures of topological defects and interfaces in 2D transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs)[1], as well as their effects on mechanical, electronic, and magnetic properties[2], paying special attention to the effective tuning of material properties brought by the sheer openness and heteroelemental composition of 2D TMDs[3]. Meanwhile, I will demonstrate the critical roles of heteroelemental doping in enhancing the catalytic properties of carbon nanomaterials on several important reactions, including oxygen reduction reaction, and CO2 reduction reaction[4]. These results provide some guideline for further optimizing the materials properties and facilitating purposeful materials design in the future.

邹小龙博士于2011年获得清华大学凝聚态物理学博士学位。2011-2016年在美国莱斯大学从事博士后研究工作。2016年中组部青年千人获得者。主要研究方向为新型纳米器件材料性能的计算模拟,立足于最新实验近展,从基础理论出发,在二维材料位错、晶界的形成及其对器件性能的影响,纳米器件运行过程中重要的量子热输运和热电问题中取得了一系列重要进展。至今在国际主流学术期刊上发表研究论文35篇,其中包括国际权威期刊《Nature Materials》2篇,《Nature Communications》2篇,《Accounts of Chemical Research》1篇,《Nano Letters》5篇,《Physical Review Letters》1篇,《ACS Nano》3篇,《Nanoscale》3篇,以及《Small》1篇。这些论文已被SCI引用2300余次,影响因子20,产生了广泛的学术影响,多项理论预测或计算设计为权威实验工作所证实或实现。由于这些突出成果,受邀为剑桥出版社出版的《2D Materials: Properties and Devices》撰写一章,并受邀在2013年美国材料学会春季会议和2017年第十届计算物理国际会议上做邀请报告。回国后,加入清华—伯克利深圳学院成会明院士组建的“低维材料与器件实验室”团队,从事低维材料的理论设计、可控合成及其在能源转换及纳米器件领域等研究。
